How to create a timesheet

Step-by-step user guide on how to create an timesheet entry.

Updated over a year ago

Entering timesheets is essential for accurate project tracking and effective workload management. It enables real-time visibility into project progress through project analytics, helping you monitor hours logged and scheduled to compare against budgets. By logging time regularly, you can gain valuable insights into resource allocation, productivity, and project health. Additionally, timesheets can be entered in advance to plan schedules and commitments, ensuring better time management and helping teams stay organised.

There are multiple ways to create an entry in My Work, they are:

1. Calendar view

When viewing in calendar mode, the timesheet entries reflects your work day, with a start / finish time and a designated break time. The timesheet entry length mirrors the time spent on the project.

1.1 Select your Project and highlight on your calendar

Navigate to My Work, click and select your project, this will create a dark grey highlight around the tile, and show a dark blue box in the bottom right corner. Click on your calendar on the corresponding day / time and drag down to create the entry.

1.2 Select Project and drag across to your calendar

Navigate to My Work, click and select your project, this will create a dark grey highlight around the tile, drag to your corresponding day / time and drag down to create the entry.

2. Stacked view

When viewing in stacked mode, the timesheet entries are the same length, no matter the time spent on the project. This can be handy when multiple, or lots of smaller projects are being worked on over the course of a day.

2.1 Select Project and drag across to your calendar

Navigate to My Work, click and select your project, this will create a dark grey highlight around the tile, and drag to the corresponding day. A pop-up box will appear prompting you to fill in the task, time, at this point you can capture notes that will show on reporting and click Create Timesheet.

Depending on the set up of your system, the task may have already been assigned, and sensitive information such as pricing not seen in the above view.

The method shown above work for both Projects and Tasks listing in My Work.
